Military Bracelets
During April 2012, the Month of the Military Child, Give an Hour™ and the Community Blueprint Network collaborated with the Partnership for Children of Cumberland County (PFC) to honor the resiliency and bravery of military children.
•In spirit of the promising practices within the Community Blueprint Network tool, the Family Strengths Group organized a bracelet making project as a way for the community to honor military children.
Materials
–Markers
–Strips of Paper
–Scissors
–Multi-color plastic beads
–Three colors of twine
• Black, Brown, and Purple
Activity
While creating the twine and bead bracelets volunteers engaged the children using three scripted questions.
(1) Do you know anyone who is in the military or has been in the military.
(2) If you could name your bracelet, what would you call it.
(3) Would you write on our board about why you are Proud to be a Military Child.
