Oh Taisho

Oh Taisho

f this place any cuter I would kill myself but the luckily for me the hostess is badass and the waitresses are fast with our drinks. Oh Taisho Yakitori is well worth your dollar, with $11.50 pitchers and little appetizers ranging from $3-and up wards is great to hang out place for some old friends and to get drunk.
Some of our all time favorites are the Kim Chee stir fry noodles, a big-ass plate full of skewers, scallion, shrimp, shishito pepper, shitake mushroom, smelt are some of the items on the combo plate and the unagi tofu which is a bowl full of eel, tofu, egg in special sauce.
Taisho is a cramped, dingy subterranean space lined with tin foil, old calendars, and smoke stains. It is also so insanely cool that local Japanese kids (themselves insanely cool) will wait 45 minutes for a table here rather than walk down the street for an easy seat at any of the other yakitori copycats on St. Marks Place. Of course, it's not just a manically friendly atmosphere or semi-secret slice of Tokyo they're after—the food rocks, too.
